Alessandro Frau, originally from Sardinia, began his culinary journey after earning a diploma in Tourism Management.
In 1999, he moved to London to study English and started working as an apprentice chef in various kitchens, eventually landing at the Italian Restaurant in the prestigious Grosvenor House Hotel. This experience ignited his passion for cooking, leading him to travel worldwide to expand his knowledge and refine his culinary philosophy.
Alessandro’s culinary journey took him to several countries, including Mexico, Sweden, Finland, and Paris, before arriving in Phuket, Thailand in 2004. At just 28 years old, he was appointed Executive Chef at the Sheraton Grande Laguna, overseeing 12 restaurants and 130 chefs. In 2009, he opened Acqua Restaurant in Phuket, which quickly became the most awarded Italian restaurant in Thailand and a beloved institution.
After years of searching for the perfect location, Alessandro found his dream space in Bangkok and opened Acqua Ristorante Bangkok in 2022. Situated in the heart of the city, his restaurant brings authentic Italian cuisine to the upscale dining scene in Bangkok.
