Benjamín Nast is part of a new generation of chefs redefining Latin American gastronomy through identity, creativity, and a deep respect for local territory. Trained in Europe, he returned to Chile with a vision to blend technical mastery with soul and cultural expression. In 2017, he founded DePatio, a restaurant that quickly became a cornerstone of contemporary Chilean cuisine, earning national and international recognition, including multiple awards from leading
culinary institutions and critics. The pandemic marked a creative turning point for Nast, inspiring a series of diverse and experimental projects: DeCalle, an urban concept with Asian influences; Demencia, a bold fusion of gastronomy and mixology; and most recently, DeCaleta, his tribute to Chile’s coastal cuisine, opened in 2025. His innovative work has taken him across the world, representing Chile at international events such as Madrid Fusión and the Qatar International
Food Festival 2025, and featuring on Netflix’s Somebody Feed Phil. In 2025, Nast received a Knife “Excellent” distinction at The Best Chef Awards, affirming his influence on modern gastronomy. Alongside leading his restaurants, he serves as a judge on Top Chef VIP Chile and is currently writing his first book on identity, memory, and Chilean cuisine.
