Dominik Hartmann, Head Chef of Restaurant Magdalena in Rickenbach, has earned widespread recognition for his visionary approach to cuisine. Celebrated as Discovery of the Year 2021 and Rising Star of the Year in 2023 and 2025, Hartmann cooks with boldness, precision, and a modern sensibility, focusing on vegetables and local ingredients expressed through creativity and balance.

Born in 1992 in Rickenbach near Schwyz, he began his culinary apprenticeship at sixteen at the Kaiserstock in Riemenstalden, later training as a pastry chef and confectioner. He refined his skills alongside renowned chefs Andreas Caminada at Schloss Schauenstein and Fabian Fuchs at Zürich’s EquiTable.

In 2020, together with his wife Adriana and childhood friend Marco Appert, he opened Restaurant Magdalena in his hometown. The light-filled restaurant, overlooking the Schwyz valley, has quickly gained acclaim for its plant-focused approach, refined flavors, and commitment to expressing the essence of nature on the plate, offering diners a characterful and memorable experience.
