Bio

Lionel Beccat, born in Corsica, France, in 1976, discovered his passion for cooking at a young age, inspired by his grandmother’s culinary traditions. At just 20 years old, he embarked on his career as a chef, quickly climbing the ranks to become second chef at the renowned La Maison Troisgros within six years.

In 2006, Beccat was invited by chef Michel Troisgros to move to Tokyo and manage the opening of a new restaurant. Though it was an unexpected opportunity, Beccat embraced the challenge, finding a new home and career path in Japan.

After six successful years in Tokyo, Beccat opened his own restaurant, Esquisse, in the upscale Ginza district. Known for its modern take on haute cuisine, Esquisse offers seasonal, carefully crafted menus where Beccat channels his artistic expression into each dish. The restaurant is celebrated for its innovative approach and exceptional culinary artistry, reflecting Beccat’s unique voice in the world of fine dining.
