Maša Salopek was born in Croatia in 1987. She is currently the head pastry chef at the two-time Michelin star Hiša Franko restaurant in Soča Valley, Slovenia. The head chef at Hiša Franko is Ana Roš, who finished 7th in the list of the world’s best 100 chefs.
How was it beginning?
She graduated from Croatian Language and Literature and Library Science at University of Rijeka. Seven years ago Maša was a professor, when she decided to change her profession and become a pastry chef. She was working for some of the best Croatian restaurants before coming to Hiša Franko where she has been working for the past 4 years as head pastry chef.
The Best Pastry Chef
Alongside chef Ana Roš she is discovering and creating unconventional and innovative desserts based on local ingredients and followed by the philosophy km 0. In 2021 Maša won the award for the Best Pastry Chef at the Best Chef Awards in Amsterdam. She is a passionate and curious traveller always looking for inspiration to enrich her work.
