Pedro Pena Bastos, a 34-year-old representative of the new wave of Portuguese chefs, is a passionate and driven culinary artist. At just 24, he took over the Esporão restaurant in Alentejo, where his focus on local, small-scale produce brought immediate success, propelling him into the culinary spotlight. This achievement led him to open Ceia in Lisbon, a restaurant that serves just 14 guests per seating and showcases innovative Portuguese cuisine inspired by tradition. 

Ceia quickly gained recognition, earning a place among the world’s top restaurants.In 2021, the prestigious Four Seasons Ritz hotel in Lisbon invited him to lead their CURA restaurant. In just eight months, his exceptional work earned him significant recognition, solidifying his reputation in the culinary world.

Outside the kitchen, Pedro is a married father and a musician, playing drums in a band he formed with friends during his teenage years. A passionate advocate for Portuguese culinary heritage, he is undoubtedly one of the chefs bringing the country’s cuisine to the forefront of global gastronomy.
