Vasco Coelho Santos, a former management student turned celebrated Portuguese chef, has built a globally shaped career that now defines some of Porto’s most innovative dining experiences.
Vasco Coelho Santos, a renowned Portuguese chef, initially studied management but shifted his focus to cooking, realizing his true passion lay in the kitchen. He began his culinary journey in Lisbon, working at Atelier de Cozinha Michel, and later at Restaurante Olivier and Tavares Rico. In 2010, he honed his skills in top Spanish restaurants, including Mugaritz, Arzak, and El Bulli, under the guidance of culinary legends.
Upon returning to Porto, Vasco worked at Pedro Lemos’ restaurant and later traveled across Europe and Asia, gaining further experience at Viajante in London and 2am: Dessert Bar in Singapore. In 2016, he opened Euskalduna Studio, a contemporary signature restaurant in Porto, where customers can observe the entire cooking process. He later expanded his ventures with Semea, a family-oriented sharing restaurant, and local businesses such as Peixaria by Euskalduna and Ogi Bakery.
Vasco’s latest project, a space under his own name at Porto’s Time Out Market, offers a selection of iconic dishes from his restaurants, celebrating Portuguese culinary traditions with a creative twist.
