Marina Ravarotto is a Sardinian chef celebrated for her cuisine rooted in island traditions and contemporary creativity. Through Chiaroscuro, she showcases Sardinian identity, local ingredients, and the rich heritage of Barbagia.
Born in Nuoro in 1981, Chef Marina Ravarotto began her culinary training at the ENAP Sardegna hospitality school, graduating in 1999. Her passion for cooking dates back to childhood, inspired by the aromas, flavours, and atmosphere created by her mother and grandmothers in the kitchen. After a long and demanding start, she entered the kitchen of her future mentor, Chef Mario Tirotto at the Valle dell’Erica Resort in Santa Teresa di Gallura.
There she learned the values of dedication, consistency, creativity, and commitment—qualities later reinforced by other leading Sardinian chefs, including Roberto Petza and Stefano Deidda. In December 2017, she embarked on her own path by opening Chiaroscuro in Cagliari, a tribute to Nobel laureate Grazia Deledda and the culinary traditions of Sardinia, particularly those of Barbagia.
Chiaroscuro reflects a dialogue between tradition and modernity, offering both iconic dishes such as Filindeu and Pane Frattau and contemporary interpretations crafted exclusively with Sardinian products. Her work has earned significant recognition and honors, driven by a clear mission: to celebrate Sardinian identity, its producers, and the extraordinary richness of its land.
