Bio

Since 2003, Andreas Caminada has been at the helm of Schloss Schauenstein, a historic castle in Fürstenau, Switzerland – the world’s smallest town – where he runs a celebrated restaurant and boutique hotel. In 2021, his long-time head chef Marcel Skibba became his business partner, and in 2022 Caminada acquired ownership of the Fürstenau properties.

In 2015, he founded Fundaziun Uccelin, an initiative dedicated to nurturing the next generation of culinary talent. More than 80 international students have completed its scholarship programme, gaining experience with acclaimed partner chefs and producers including Thomas Keller, Clare Smyth, Virgilio Martínez and Daniel Humm.

Caminada’s cuisine is rooted in simplicity and innovation. He works with vegetables, fruits, herbs and flowers from the castle’s garden, transforming familiar ingredients into refined creations. His signature approach is to explore a single ingredient in multiple ways – crunchy, sweet, tart or bitter – building layers of flavour and texture into a harmonious whole.

Recognised among The Best Chef community, Andreas Caminada is admired worldwide for his precision, creativity and dedication to culinary excellence.
