Dabiz Muñoz was born on 15 January 1980 in Madrid. As a child, he was restless and dreamed of becoming a professional footballer, even playing in Atlético de Madrid’s youth teams before competing in Spain’s Segunda División B.

At the age of 12, he began accompanying his parents to Viridiana, the restaurant of chef Abraham García. There, he discovered haute cuisine and developed a deep admiration for García, who became a formative influence. Muñoz started cooking at home, dreaming of creating dishes unlike anything seen before. His ambition was clear: to open a restaurant so successful that guests would have to wait months for a table. His father would jokingly tell him, “That will happen when pigs fly.”

Today, the winged pig has become the symbol of DiverXO, Muñoz’s Madrid restaurant, internationally acclaimed and the recipient of numerous prestigious accolades. Known for his bold creativity and boundary-pushing cuisine, Dabiz Muñoz has established himself as one of the most influential and visionary chefs of his generation.
