Chef Johnson Ebenezer, widely known as Chef JE, is a visionary Indian chef whose career reflects passion, resilience, and a commitment to redefining regional cuisine. Raised in St. Thomas Mount in Chennai, he discovered his love for cooking early, inspired by his uncle’s stories from life at sea. He trained at the Indian Institute of Hotel Management, building the foundation for a globally influenced culinary journey.
He began his career with the Taj Group of Hotels before gaining extensive international experience on cruise liners and later in the United States, where he broadened his understanding of global flavours and techniques. Returning to India in 2010, he helped conceptualise Nadodi in Kuala Lumpur, a restaurant that went on to earn significant international acclaim for its progressive interpretation of South Indian cuisine.
In Bangalore, Chef Johnson created Farmlore, a pioneering farm-to-table experience rooted in hyperlocal sourcing, sustainability, and cultural storytelling.
