Bio

Chef Franco Sampogna is a Brazilian-born, French-trained chef and co-owner of Frevo in New York City. Originally from Brazil, he moved to France at 17 to train in some of the country’s most prestigious kitchens, where he developed a refined, technique-driven approach to cooking.

Working alongside some of France’s most respected chefs, he played a significant role in shaping menus focused on seasonality, precision and ingredient-led cuisine, earning widespread professional recognition and accolades for excellence. Sampogna later expanded his experience as a private chef aboard a yacht, an opportunity that further sharpened his creative vision and adaptability.

In 2019, he brought his expertise to New York, opening Frevo—an intimate dining experience centred on exceptional produce and contemporary fine dining. He works closely with local farmers and producers, guided by the belief that great cooking begins at the source. Under his leadership, Frevo has gained acclaim for its craftsmanship, depth of flavour and distinctive culinary identity.
