Fredrik Berselius is a Swedish chef in New York, crafting seasonal, Nordic-inspired cuisine at Aska, celebrated for precision, atmosphere, and deep connection to nature.
Fredrik Berselius, originally from Stockholm, Sweden, has spent most of his culinary career in New York City. He opened Aska in 2012, earning recognition for blending his Swedish roots with the local Brooklyn environment.
After relocating to a new space near the Williamsburg Bridge in 2016, Aska received two Michelin stars, becoming the only restaurant in Brooklyn with this distinction. Berselius focuses on using carefully sourced, local ingredients, influenced by both Scandinavian and Northeastern U.S. flavors, creating dishes that offer a unique blend of new and familiar tastes.
Outside the kitchen, Berselius enjoys cycling, running marathons, snowboarding, and foraging in the Catskills. He published his first cookbook, Aska, with Phaidon in 2018.
