Chef Moeen Abuzaid, widely recognised for elevating Arabic cuisine, has dedicated his career to bringing the flavours and stories of his heritage to a global audience. Born in Jabal Al Taj, Jordan, to parents from Yaffa, Palestine, he discovered his passion for cooking early and began his professional journey at just 18 in some of Jordan’s leading hotels. These formative years sparked a deep fascination with ingredients, technique and the emotional resonance of food.
In 2009, his ambition to reinterpret Arabic cuisine through a contemporary lens led him to New York City, where he trained alongside acclaimed chefs and developed a style that blends global techniques with the flavours of his upbringing. His pop-up, The Broken English, drew significant acclaim for its originality and expressive storytelling.
Moeen moved to Toronto in 2019, further refining his culinary identity through work with local producers, sustainable practices and international collaborations. His restaurant, Arbequina, located in Toronto’s Roncesvalles neighbourhood, has already earned notable recognition for its distinct vision and creativity.
Across Jordan, New York and Toronto, Chef Moeen Abuzaid continues to push Arabic cuisine forward with innovation, cultural pride and a bold pursuit of excellence.
