After moving to the Netherlands as a child, he developed a passion for food, often learning in his mother’s kitchen. His Surinamese heritage greatly influenced his culinary journey, with spices and flavors from his background forming the foundation of his style.

Soenil honed his skills at prestigious restaurants like Scholteshof and Parkheuvel before taking the reins of Restaurant De Lindehof in Nuenen in 1995. Over time, he transformed the French-inspired restaurant into a space that showcased his unique fusion of Surinamese flavors and Dutch ingredients.

As a mentor and advocate, Soenil is committed to providing opportunities for young, minority cooks, prioritizing passion and motivation over formal experience. Beyond his restaurant, Soenil participates in global culinary events and shares his love for music, art, and culture through his creative dishes.
