Sun Kim was born in Busan, South Korea, and grew up in Seoul, where his mother ran a small restaurant. Surrounded by food from an early age, he developed a deep passion for gastronomy. While working in classical French and Italian restaurants in Seoul, he recognised the advantage held by chefs with international training. At 25, he moved to Sydney to study at Le Cordon Bleu and work under Tetsuya Wakuda, where his talent and determination quickly stood out.
He rose through the ranks before relocating to Singapore to join Waku Ghin, further refining his technique and culinary vision. At just 31, Sun Kim opened his own restaurant, Meta, which rapidly gained international acclaim and multiple major accolades, earning recognition among the most celebrated dining destinations in Asia and beyond.
Drawing on his global experience and Korean heritage, Sun Kim crafts a modern cuisine marked by subtle Korean influences, clarity of flavour, and exceptional produce. Constantly evolving, he continues to develop Meta while inspiring his team through creativity, discipline, and a deep respect for ingredients.
