For the first time in its history, The Best Chef traveled outside Europe to celebrate its seventh edition on 18, 19, and 20 November. The announcement of the world’s best chef was the highlight of the event, during which incredible talks, debates, demonstrations and show cooking took place under the topic “Origins & Future”. A standing ovation has finally resolved the mystery during the celebration of the final gala of The Best Chef Awards 2023:
For the third consecutive year, the best chef in the world. The announcement was made at the Yucatán International Congress Centre during a glamorous ceremony, where the identities of all the chefs who complete the list of the Top 100 were also revealed. A gastronomic elite featured 31 nationalities with Europe as the continent with the greatest representation (54 chefs), followed by America (24) and Asia (17), with Spain consolidating its position as the most influential country, with 14 chefs. The reign of Dabiz Muñoz (DiverXO, Spain) continues, a free-spirited chef used to breaking the rules and exploring the limits of creativity in every project he undertakes.
Number two in this edition goes to Albert Adrià (Enigma, Spain), who also wins one of the special prizes, The Best Chef New Entry Award, powered by Le Nouveau Chef, as he enters directly into that position in his successful return to the list.
Ana Roš, body and soul of Hiša Franko (Slovenia), completes the podium by rising from ninth to third place and repeating as the highest-ranked woman.

The Best Chef Awards are completed with some special prizes. This time there were 10 awards that recognize the work of chefs in specific fields. One of these special awards went to Jordi Roca, who has received for the second year The Best Chef Pastry Award powered by The Lost Explorer Mezcal, which he also received in 2019. But one of the most emotive awards this year has been given to Ferran Adrià, recognized for his legacy as a professional who revolutionized world gastronomy with his work at elBulli from 1983 to 2011. The genius from L’Hospitalet continues to be an inspiration for new generations of chefs and his legendary restaurant has been converted into a museum and space for reflection called elBulli1843.
