Clare Smyth

Core

Clare Smyth is the chef at Core by Clare Smyth’s signature restaurant in Notting Hill, London. She was born in County Antrim, Northern Ireland and grew up on a farm with her parents and two brothers. Her love for cooking was born when she was fifteen, when she worked in a local restaurant in the summer. From that moment on, her life completely changed.

Over the years, she improved her skills and supported teams Gordon Ramsay in London or Alain Ducasse’s Le Louis XV in Monte Carlo. Both bosses, especially the first, occupy an important place in her life.

Award-winning, ethical chef

He is an active member of the international culinary community. Award-winning as the first and only woman in Great Britain. However, she associated her successes with great responsibility and care for the next generations of chefs and attracting new talents to the industry. Her mantra of “we are here to take care of people” applies to both her team and her clients.

Her restaurant Core is her place where she freely expresses herself and her philosophy. Core is the result of years of research and design that have made it a prime example of ethical and sustainable cooking. Each ingredient comes from independent producers and farmers with whom the chef develops a personal relationship based on trust and quality.

Although there is no salt and pepper on the table, it will always be provided and the meat cooked according to the guest’s wishes. The relaxed dress code is also the key to the reception of Core as informal elegance, with a luxurious but homely atmosphere.
